The Bode lab is part of the Pediatric and Adult Gastroenterology Research Cluster that is located on the 5th floor of the new state-of-the-art Biomedical Research Facility on the UC San Diego La Jolla campus in the heart of San Diego's Research Mesa.
The Biomedical Research Facility is home to some of the world's leading experts in glycobiology, gastroenterology, microbiomics and metabolomics, infection, immunity and inflammation, neurosciences and systems biology.
HMO are glycans that impact the microbiome and metabolome, alter microbe-host interactions and prevent infection, modulate immunity and inflammatory responses, and potentially also contribute to cognitive development. Therefore, uniting the expertise, knowledge and skills in these areas in one facility and very close proximity provides the ideal foundation to study the roles of HMO in the varies contexts.
